A Family That Camps Together
#opportunityto PLAY!
KarenK’sapreanr’esnptsartehnotusgthtoCugahmtpCMamerpryMHeerrayrtHweasrtawas a
great opportunity for her to socialize and perhaps a fun
summer away from "boring ole' mom and dad." They took
their 12-year-old daughter to the Hackettstown campus,
unsure of how Karen would respond to a new environment
with unfamiliar people. That was back in 1977. Now,
around 40 years later, Karen is one of camp's most beloved
veterans.
During her time
there, she has forged
amazing friendships
and created life-long
memories. Even in
her 50's, she finds
the time to come to
camp and enjoy all
the program has to
offer. She loves to
paint and listen to music, but particularly enjoys hanging out with the
counselors. The feeling is mutual as you can see from the photo of
her and three-term counselor, Danielle. Incredibly pleased with Karen's
camp experience, her parents also volunteer their time to improve the
camp so that other campers can enjoy themselves there as well. We
look forward to working with Karen and her family to make sure Camp
Merry Heart continues to bring smiles to the faces of children and
adults of all abilities for years to come!
