EMPLOYMENT
NEVER FELT SO
GOOD!
Participant Dwane Harris (pictured on
the right) has been with Easterseals
New Jersey several years now and
has struggled to secure community
employment despite having previous
experiences working in the community.
Dwane’s Service Specialist, Skills
Coach and DVRS job coach has worked
with him on the skills necessary to
re-enter the workforce outside of
Easterseals. Dwane’s biggest hurdle
appeared to be his ability to attend
work on a daily basis as well as having
confidence in his abilities. With a lot
of encouragement and support from
Easterseals New Jersey staff, Dwane was finally able to secure a job with a janitorial company which
he attends on all days he is scheduled. Dwane will continue to participate in the Easterseals program
until the janitorial job is able to provide him with more working hours each week. It is amazing to
witness how proud Dwane is about securing this job. Kudos to Dwane for a job well done!

50 If you ask camper Billy, what keeps him coming back to Easterseals’
YEARS Camp Merry Heart, he’ll tell you it’s the food. If you ask former
counselors Hope and John Lucas, they’ll tell you it’s campers like
Billy. Imagine their surprise that after almost five decades since they
worked at camp, they learn that Billy is still attending camp. Not only
that, their daughter Hannah is his counselor!
OF FINE You see, Camp Merry Heart is
a sleep away camp and respite
DINING! program that caters to people
with disabilities and special
needs of all ages. Recently,
Hope and John returned to
camp and were reunited with Billy to catch up on days gone by.
Hannah continues the family’s legacy of supporting people with
disabilities by making sure all the campers enjoy their summer of
fun and adventure!
