Kenia Is Career Ready

At the Raritan Valley Work Center, we assist
hundreds of people with disabilities and special
needs in identifying their career goals and teach
them the skills required to achieve those goals.
Recently, Kenia, one of our most dedicated
     program participants, expressed an interest
in learning clerical work. Though she has no
experience in this area, her passion was clear.
We paired her with skills coaches who were
ready to show her the ropes. She received
real-life experience as she worked at our front
desk here at Easterseals in New Brunswick.
By working one-on-one with her coaches,
Kenia has made significant improvements in
     professionalism, customer service, and staying
on task. She has even shown initiative with
embracing new tasks, like using the phone
system and filing important documents. We
expected nothing less, as Kenia has always been
able to achieve anything she sets her mind to.
Kenia continues to succeed in all the positions
she holds at the work center.

Kenia has made a new goal for herself. Since
she has enjoyed her time at the front desk, she
hopes to one day work as a full-time receptionist
for Easterseals. I know that as soon as there is
an opening, I'll walk her application over to our
human resources department myself! Until then,
I'm sure Kenia will continue to work hard so that
when the opportunity presents itself, she'll be
     MORE than ready.
