Chronic unemployment is one of the
#1 ISSUES
facing
PEOPLE WITH
DISABILITIES
in the U.S. today...
That’s why Easterseals New Jersey is addressing this
persistent problem by providing a variety of employment
services at our work centers located in North and South
Jersey. At these sites, we provide vocational training, job
coaching, and even an opportunity to earn a paycheck
while learning valuable job skills. In honor of New Jersey
Manufacturing Day in September, we held two open houses,
one at each center to demonstrate our packaging and
assembly capabilities. This was also the prefect chance
to show the local community how people with disabilities
are gaining work skills and incomes in a supportive social
environment at our locations.
Business owners, local press, families, and many more came from all over to learn about the work
being done at our Millville and New Brunswick centers. Our staff gave them a tour through our facilities
showcasing our assembly floor, warehouse, green house, shipping docks, and digital imaging center.
They learned about our packaging and digital imaging contracts with local businesses that provide real-
world job experiences and paychecks to our participants for their hard work.
Easterseals works with program participants to overcome any
barriers that may prevent them from acquiring and maintaining
gainful employment such as a physical, developmental, or
invisible disability. We feel it is everyone’s right to seek and
obtain employment, regardless of the challenges they may
face.
Easterseals would like to thank Jacquelyn Craig, Chris
McMahon, Michael Liss, Angela Mack, Burt Brooks, Justine
Tinari, Anysa Holder, Shirley Battistini, Jackie Hinton, Shelly
May, and Felita Johnson for hosting this event and making it
such a success!
