A Burning Desire to Win
Pat, a young lady and Cumberland County resident was already out and working in her local
community when misfortune struck. Her place of employment burned down and she was
left with no place to punch her next timecard. Some would sulk and cry out, “Why me?!” but
not Pat. She took her misfortune and used it to focus her efforts on finding a new and even
better job out in the community. She partnered up with an Easterseals Skills Coach from their
Employment Program and worked tirelessly over the next few months to boost her skillset and
secure something new. She did research, made calls, and filled out several many applications.
With all that hard work, OF COURSE she secured a new position at a promising new employer
in the restaurant industry. Fire may have kept her from working, but that was nothing compared
to her burning desire to take command of her own destiny. Great job, Pat!
